Public Vehicle Driver Licence Application

About this form

This form can be used to apply for any ACT Public Vehicle Driver Licence. It also integrates the mandatory driver accreditation application for rideshare applications. From 1 August 2016 anyone wanting to provide a Public Vehicle Demand Responsive Service is required to meet the new regulatory requirements set out under the Road Transport (Public Passenger Services) Regulation 2002 and the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulation 2000.

On average, applications will be processed within 10 business days of receipt of a completed application. If your application does not meet our requirements, or is incomplete, we may contact you to provide additional identification and/or more information.

If approved, a new driver licence and public vehicle driver authority card will be issued via post. Driver accreditation certificates for Rideshare applications will be issued via email.

To apply for a Public Vehicle Driver Licence you will need to attach the following documents to your online application:

  • A commercial driver health assessment that meets the National Fitness to Drive Guidelines – unless you have submitted one in the previous 5 years.
  • A copy of your:
    • Australian or Overseas Passport, or
    • ImmiCard or
    • Australian Birth Certificate or
    • Australian Citizenship Certificate

Note: The rideshare driver accreditation application fee is non-refundable.
